     I remember a college professor once asking the class, "What is art?". Ten minutes and dozens of answers later, it was becoming very obvious that there was no definitive answer to that simple question. Perhaps Picasso knew this and instead felt compelled to define the purpose of art. The beauty of this quote is that it resonates with maker and collector alike. For some,taking a few minutes to get lost in their favorite painting is a fantastic way to decompress from a day at work, or life in general. For others, the same release comes from picking up the paint brushes, throwing some clay on the wheel, or simply doodling with pen in hand, paying no attention to the finished results. I have found great joy in my creative endeavors over the years; not only in the making, but also in the happiness in those who have allowed my work into their homes and lives.

      Born and raised in Billings, Montana, I was surrounded with a heavy dose of Charles Russell, Fredrick Remington, and all things Western. Art was always appreciated and practiced in our household, but never something considered as a career. I began college as an Architecture student, and finished with an Anthropology degree and an Art minor. (Plus or minus a few changes in major along the way) College introduced me to a vast new art world; from the earliest cave paintings, through the classics, and into the unrestrained world of modern contemporary art. After twenty plus years of working in galleries, I finally took the plunge and became a full time studio artist. I am very blessed to have the support of a loving wife and an understanding family. The encouragement and inspiration I receive from friends and collectors is invaluable.
